Job Description:
Reporting to the Junior School Principal, the K-8 Dean of
Faculty Support and Evaluation will join the K-5 Assistant
Principal, the Middle School Assistant Principal, Grade Level
Administrative Deans, and the Director of Extended Learning to
comprise the Junior School Administrative Team. The K-8 Dean of
Faculty Support and Evaluation will attend vigorously to ensure
that our faculty are receiving regular feedback on their practice.
This position will continue to evolve to meet the needs of students
and the school. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Faculty Evaluation Management
- Oversee the faculty evaluation system for the Junior
School.
- Ensure regular and constructive feedback is provided to faculty
on their teaching practices.
Support for Faculty Improvement
- Collaborate with the respective Assistant Principal and the
Principal to assist faculty on performance improvement plans.
- Provide targeted support for faculty encountering challenges in
the classroom.
Collaboration with Administrative Deans
- Work closely with Administrative Deans to identify and address
faculty challenges.
- Facilitate communication and support between faculty and
administrative leadership.
Professional Development Coordination
- Partner with the Center for Teaching and Learning to develop
and implement targeted professional development initiatives.
- Coordinate coaching opportunities for faculty to enhance
teaching effectiveness.
Oversight of Instructional Coaches
- Supervise instructional coaches within the Junior School.
- Ensure coaches are effectively supporting faculty development
and student learning.
Continuous Improvement
- Engage in ongoing assessment of faculty evaluation processes
and make adjustments as needed.
- Adapt strategies to meet the evolving needs of students and the
school community.
Team Collaboration
- Participate actively in Junior School Administrative Team
meetings and initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative environment among faculty and
administration to enhance overall school performance.
Other Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with administrators across the campus to
support the mission of the school and to cultivate rich student
experience.
- Work with faculty from diverse backgrounds
- Collaborate and seek consultation to guide legal, ethical, and
situation-specific decision making and to resolve ethical
dilemmas.
- Demonstrate a personal and professional code of ethics that
protects the rights and confidentiality of students and
faculty/staff.
- Facilitate personnel changes for faculty and staff within the
division by making recommendations to the Assistant Principals and
the Principal. Such changes include contract renewal, disciplinary
action, promotion and/or hiring decisions.
Position Details:
- Work Year: 12 Months
- School Year: 2025 - 2026
- Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30AM - 4:00PM, schedule may vary
based on operational needs
- Starting Annual Salary*: $125,000*Punahou School offers a
comprehensive total rewards program that includes competitive pay
and benefits. The pay rate, if displayed, is the starting annual
salary for the position. Pay for selected candidates will be
determined by various factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities,
relevant training and experience, and internal equity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Education or a combination of education,
training, and experience.
- Seven (7) years of teaching experience, preferably in a K-8
educational setting.
- Supervisory experience in an educational setting.
- Three (3) years of leadership experience in instructional
coaching, professional development, faculty evaluation, or a
similar capacity.
- Demonstrated success in supporting and improving teacher
performance, including working with faculty on performance
improvement plans.
- Proficient with office technologies, including Google Workspace
(i.e. Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Forms); Microsoft Office (i.e.
Word, Excel, PowerPoint); phone systems; multipurpose
copying/printing/scanning/faxing; educational systems (i.e.
Blackbaud); and, other educational systems.
