THINK OUTSIDE.JOB DESCRIPTION As a Control Systems Architect in our
Vehicle Electronics and Software (VES) organization, you will be
responsible for defining and aligning teams towards controls
platforming strategies and implementations. Your success in this
position will not only depend on your technical expertise but also
your business acumen and soft skills: strong internal motivation,
ability to articulate Return-On-Investment for Polaris overall,
empathy for your customer, and an ability to influence peers are
some of the critical skills sought for this role. You will work
with the vehicle product teams to integrate controls architecture
solutions into all Polaris Global Business Unit (GBU) product
families including Off Road Vehicle Side-by-Sides and ATVs,
Slingshot, Indian motorcycles, and snowmobiles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for identification, definition, and sustainment of
common control system architectures that will be used across
Polaris products.
- Provide cross functional leadership to vehicle electrical
control system engineers in support of defining and implementing
vehicle control systems.
- Interface within a cross functional group of vehicle, controls,
software, and App/Web/Cloud architects to align on solutions and
strategies which serve the needs of internal business units.
- Responsible for identifying and pitching platforming
opportunities and defining technical requirements for
implementation to internal stakeholders and supporting teams.
- Decompose present and future product trends into architecture
level control systems KPCs.
- Assist leadership with business planning to support future
investment in controls strategy.
- Perform external assessments of control systems in like and
adjacent industries, including benchmarking, supplier interviews,
and general research.
- Prototype as appropriate to accelerate learnings and influence
key stakeholders.
- Present technical and business-related material to internal
leadership.SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- B.S. or higher in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or similar
Engineering field required.
- 7+ years of industry experience.
- Experience with control system development required, with
preferred experience in powersports, automotive, or agriculture
fields.
- Strong interpersonal skills required, with the ability to put
yourself in a technical sales mindset as you interact with product
groups, business leaders, suppliers, etc..
- Self-driven and comfortable operating in ambiguity.
- System engineering mindset, with proven experience platforming
complex systems.
- Experience in requirements management.
- Experience with vehicle communication networks required; CAN,
J1939 and UDS strongly preferred.
- Experience with ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced development
environment.
