Element has a current opening for a Bio-Separations Chemist III to join our growing team in Ann Arbor, MI.













Responsibilities

• Design, execute and analyze large molecule separation (bioseparation) techniques such as HPLC (SEC, RP, AIEX, CIEX), IC, Protein Simple Maurice cIEF, CE-SDS.
• Perform basic molecular biology techniques such as UV-Vis, Enzymatic Assays, BCA, Bradford, ELISA, Western Blots, SDS-PAGE.
• Perform method development to meet intent of customer needs.
• Write reports and proper documentation of the work in cGMP setting
• Carry out technical transfer of the developed method to other groups within the organization
• Execute projects with minimal supervision
• Have the ability to analyze data from the qualitative to the rigorously statistical and defend conclusions based on data
• Have the ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical abilities
• Follow all safety requirements including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
• Generate supporting laboratory documentation
• Ensure compliance with government rules and regulations (FDA, cGMP, DEA, ICH, OSHA, etc.)

  Skills / Qualifications
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or Cellular Molecular Biology
  • Experience working in a cGMP laboratory
  • Hands on experience developing bioseparations methods such as HPLC, IC, CE, cIEF
  • Hands on experience with large molecules such as peptides, proteins, AAV or lentivirus
  • Effective scientific writer (experience with report writing)
  • Effective oral presenter (experience with scientific presentations)
  • Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Must be a flexible, adaptable, self-driven team player with a positive attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
