Job Description:
This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000. A
caregiver in this position works four varying 10-hour shifts with

an Interventional Vascular Technologist, you will provide technical
assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Some of your responsibilities will include acquiring images,
processing images and providing emergency on call assistance. At
Cleveland Clinic, you will have numerous opportunities to gain

development courses. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform
vascular, interventional and surgical procedures per protocol.
- Establish effective working relationships and utilize a team
approach to process improvement.
- Perform duties in instances when normal, routine practice
cannot be applied, often in high stress situations.
- Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to
ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Check and prepare patients prior to Vascular-Interventional
study and ensure patients safety and comfort during and after
exams.
- Sets-up or operate injector to administer contrast agents for
procedures.
- Manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector is
utilized.
- Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific
procedures.
- Screen patients for ability to undergo procedure by
understanding baseline lab requirements.
- Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in
IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and
major effects.
- Position patient to obtain radiographic exposure, adjust
exposure factors and process images.
- Adapt imaging and therapeutic procedures with professional
judgment to improve diagnostic quality and therapeutic
outcome.
- Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS and
complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate
paperwork.
- Immediately report malfunctions to help desk and PACS
Administrator.
- Processes billing via RIS.
- Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data,
elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
- Monitor equipment, systems, cleans equipment and effects timely
repair.
- Teach and instruct students and new hires. Minimum
qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic
Technology
- Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing
- Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Knowledge of Radiologic Physics and Computerized Vascular
Equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy
- Knowledge of Vascular Anatomy and Pathology sufficient to apply
to interventional and diagnostic exams Preferred qualifications for
the ideal future caregiver include:
- One year of experience as a General Radiologic
Technologist
- Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography
R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology
