We have an exciting opportunity for a Crisis Therapist to join our
team of talented professionals.
This position offers a $3,000 sign on bonus and an incentive
opportunity each pay period!
We have a market-based compensation structure. The estimated salary
for this position will vary based on a candidate's transferable
work experience and qualifications. Salary ranges starts at
$52,026.00 per year. The range provided is just one component of
total compensation including a comprehensive benefit package of
affordable medical plans, employer paid dental, vision and
long-term disability, 401(K), flexible spending accounts for
medical and dependent, paid time off, 11 paid holidays.
As a Crisis Therapist in the Adult Behavioral Health Program, you
will be responsible for the following:
Provide screening, assessment and crisis intervention services via
telehealth to adult members of the community who are referred by
local police.
Determine the appropriate level of care and services needed, and
the least restrictive setting in which those services can be
provided.
Provide transitional support, advocacy and care coordination
services in-person and/or via telehealth until these adults
initiate or resume ongoing mental health and/or substance use
treatment services with The Guidance Center or another mental
health provider.
Required to be available via pre-programmed tablets for calls that
are referred for screening and intervention by local police
departments that have established business agreements with The
Guidance Center.
Crisis screening services will be available 24 hours each day,
including holidays and weekends.
Must be available to respond immediately to crisis calls during
scheduled on-call hours. They will share on-call responsibilities
during business hours with other ABH team members and will assist
with after-hours on-call coverage on a voluntary basis as their
individual schedules allow.
Responsible to provide crisis intervention and ongoing mental
health treatment services to ABH clients who are receiving
intensive case management services, including those who are on
active Assisted Outpatient Treatment orders and those deemed Not
Guilty by Reason of Insanity. Services are delivered in-person in
the office or community and/or via telehealth.
Regular working hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30 am to 7 pm,
Friday 8:30 am to 5 pm and Saturday 9 am to 1 pm. Flexible
scheduling is available. Some evening and/or weekend hours may be
required based on program needs.
Requirements:
To qualify for this position, you will need the following:
Candidates must have a minimum of a Master's degree in Social Work,
Psychology or Counseling and possess the corresponding State of
Michigan licensure. Candidates without a state license can be
considered but must obtain state licensure (LLMSW, LLPC, TLLP,
LMSW, LPC or LLP) within a 60-day training period beginning on the
date of hire. This period may be extended by up to an additional 60
days of training at the sole discretion of the employer. Failure to
obtain licensure within the training period will result in the
employee being unqualified to perform work functions. Beyond the
training period, all state licensure must continually remain
active, in effect, and free from disciplinary action.
Must obtain the Qualified Mental Health Professional and Substance
Abuse Treatment Specialist (SATS) credentials within 120 days of
hire.
Must possess a CAADC credential, or be on an active, approved
registered MCBAP certification Development Plan within six weeks of
hire. Upon hire, the application must be submitted for the
Development Plan to MCBAP, with or without the required trainings,
within 30 days of hire, or they will not be permitted to provide
services. Documentation of required trainings must be submitted
with the Development Plan Application or within 90 days of
hire.
Must have the ability to engage adults diagnosed with serious
mental illness and/or substance use disorders, their families and
supporters.
Must have expertise in helping clients identify their service needs
and preferences, helping them build on their individual strengths,
resources and supports, and navigate the network of services
available at The Guidance Center and in the community.
Candidates must have the ability to provide trauma-informed care
and appropriately handle crisis situations.
Must be able to use technology competently, demonstrate effective
organizational, verbal and written communication skills, and work
independently.

and diverse experiences of adults with mental illness and/or
substance use disorders, their families and providers.
